For nearly 200 years the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal has winded its secret way through the breathtaking beauty of the Welsh countryside.

Even in high summer, when the Brecon Beacons National Park is at its busiest, the canal is peaceful and tranquil. Instead of bustling commerce, the canal now offers leisurely canal cruising holidays in perfect surroundings. Sights, scents and sounds of peaceful days await travellers in all seasons.

Our boats are specifically designed to operate on the Mon and Brec Canal and are easy to handle. During our comprehensive hand-over procedure we demonstrate how everything operates on the boat and explain the principles of boat handling on narrow boat holidays. One of our experienced hand-over team will come with you for a short cruise to ensure that you are able to handle the boat with confidence before we bid you farewell to enjoy your relaxing narrow boat holiday afloat. We also place a comprehensive narrow boat manual on board, and this tells you all about your boat and her equipment.
You can rest assured in the knowledge that should you need our help during your narrow boat holiday, we are never far away and we provide a 24 hour telephone number for you to contact us for any assistance that you may require.

The canal starts in the historic market town of Brecon, where the water for the canal is drawn from the River Usk. Brecon boasts a fine Cathedral, two fascinating museums and two market days a week on Tuesday and Friday. There is also the new theatre at the head of the canal with itís modern canalside bistro.

Govilon has the oldest English speaking Baptist Chapel in Wales with itís unusual outside font, filled at one time with water from the canal for Baptisms!

There are lots of interesting villages to explore like Llangattock where the Church contains the village stocks and whipping post.

Crickhowell is a short walk from the Mon & Brec canal, across the River Usk and is well worth a visit. It has a castle, lots of interesting little shops and some great pubs, and award winning sausages from a local butcher. Abergavenny is located across the Usk Valley from the canal and is accessible by foot, bus or taxi. It is a charming town with castle, museum and a good shopping centre with market day on Tuesday.

Not far from the Mon & Brec canal is the Llangorse Riding and Rope Centre which is an ideal visit for the whole family. Riding can be enjoyed on miles of private tracks and the indoor climbing centre offers indoor abseiling, climbing and pot holing.
