The Metropole is an imposing Victorian building perched majestically on the crest of a gentle hill, overlooking the popular Cornish village of Padstow. In addition to being one of the countyís prettiest fishing villages, Padstow is best-known for its seafood, which features, of course, on the hotelís AA Rosetted menu.

Attractions such as The Eden Project, Camel Valley Vineyard (best bubbly!), National Trustís Llanhydrock House and the private Pencarrow House are all within easy travelling distance. Thereís also plenty happening in the village, not least of which is Obby Oss Day on May 1st, when the streets are alive in celebration. Itís an intriguing spectacle that draws people back time and again.

If gardening is your cup of tea then the beauty of the Eden project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and the surprisingly abundant Pine Lodge Gardens in nearby St Austell are easily accessible.

The Metropole has an elegantly presented and welcoming interior with 50 comfortably furnished en suite bedrooms, an AA Rosette restaurant, bar, conservatory and 2 lounge areas. In addition to some of the best views of Padstow, it also has an outdoor swimming pool (open July/August) in sheltered grounds and plenty of guest parking.

The hotel has 3 types of bedroom:

Premier (some with 4 poster beds), Select (with views over the harbour or estuary) and Standard, all equipped with hospitality tray, remote control colour TV, radio, hairdryer and direct dial telephone.

The hotel also has 2 Lounge areas with comfortable seating that are perfect for relaxing with coffee after dinner, enjoying an Afternoon Cornish Cream Tea or as a daytime retreat (refuge) to catch up with post card writing and reading. Fires burn cheerily in winter as Padstow is very much a year round place to visit - just as enchanting in winter as it is in the summer, but with the advantage that it is a bit quieter traffic-wise.

Inspiration drawn from the sea is evident in the delicious, seasonally changing menus that are freshly prepared each day in The Metropleís AA Rosette-awarded Restaurant. Head Chef Jonathan Guest makes good use of the abundance of high quality, local produce - meat, game and poultry, as well as the fish that Padstow is so famous for.

A talented kitchen brigade also provides vegetarian options to tempt any discerning palates.

Food is a serious part of our business and we take great pride in our talented complement of Chefs. As a group, we currently hold 8 AA Rosettes and the longevity of the period we have held these highly desirable culinary accolades is testimony to our consistency of standards and quality of cuisine.

Christmas at the Metropole is a popular and much-enjoyed occasion. Book our 3nt Traditional Christmas package before 10th October & receive complimentary room upgrade (subject to availability).
