Welcome to Cottage in the Wood "The Best View in Enlgand" London Daily Mail.
Nestling high up on the sheltered eastern slopes of the Malvern Hills is a cluster of three white buildings, almost hidden from view by their own seven acres of woodland; you have just happened upon: The Cottage in the Wood Hotel.
This uniquely situated hotel has been owned and run by the Pattin family for sixteen years, aided by their "extended" family, a team of enthusiastic people who enjoy what they do - looking after their guests
The thirty mile views are quite frankly stunning. The Cotswold Hills form the horizon and, to the south east, can be seen the spires of Cheltenham and on to Gloucester with its backdrop of Birdlip Hill.
A small number of rooms at the hotel have been designated as "Pet Friendly",and your four-legged companions are welcome to stay with you in this accommodation.
The restaurant, an elegant room adorned with striking 100 year old Indian and Moghul prints, and below the panorama stretching to the horizon some 30 miles or so, from tall Georgian windows.
Dominic Pattin (John & Sue's son) is in command of the kitchen and specialises in modern English cuisine with ingredients from local producers wherever possible.
His father, John, complements the cuisine with a wine list rated by the AA as one of the top 30 in Britain, with around 600 wines to choose from.
A cosy bar/lounge with its focal point being a roaring log fire in winter, offers a good selection of malts and a large gin collection. The choice is sure to set you up for your meal. And, afterwards, what about a Cognac, Armagnac or single malt as a nightcap?
All bedrooms are en-suite with bath or bath with shower over, remote control colour tele/videos, free video library, direct-dial telephone and alarm, central heating and an additional fan heater for those "in between" days, kettle with choice of teas, coffee, hot chocolate and home-made biscuits, hair dryer, radio, shampoo and bubble bath. All rooms "with a view" have binoculars.
